Taylor Sappe Music Production & Instruction

Project Recording Studio

Small studio designed for songwriters, producers, arrangers, music for sync licensing, karaoke singers and much more when you don't want to pay for a huge studio complex with features that you don't need.  Everything is done in one room using Cubase 9.5.

Many albums were produced in this studio, including Grammy nominated "Get Branded".

DAW

Cubase 9.5.5

Maximum Inputs

7 simultaneous inputs

  1 MIDI input
  4 standard XLR.1/4" audio inputs
  2 1/4" line inputs

Microphones

3 small diaphragm solid state condenser microphones: CAD and Marshall
4 large diaphragm solid state condenser microphones: Pacific Pro Audio, Marshall (tube)
1 Large diaphragm dynamic microphone: Sennheiser 421MD

Virtual instruments

Growing massive sound library of virtual instruments with high resolution sampled sounds.
  Halion Sonic SE
A high quality sampling instrument with a current library of thousands of high quality sampled instrument sounds with note expression and sound effects.
  Groove agent
A high quality sampling instrument with a current library of hundreds of drum sounds and sound effects.
  The Grand 3
A virtual instrument containing 3 top-of-the line grand pianos (see latest sounds below), 1 upright and 1 electric piano.
  LoopMash
LoopMash is one of a kind: a powerful tool for the slicing and instant re-assembling of any kind of rhythmic audio material. With LoopMash, you can preserve the rhythmic pattern of one audio loop, but you can replace all sounds of this loop with the sounds from up to seven other loops.
  Mystic
The synthesis method used by Mystic is based on three parallel comb filters with feedback. A comb filter is a filter with a number of notches in its frequency response, with the notch frequencies harmonically related to the frequency of the fundamental (lowest) notch.
  Pad Shop Pro
Padshop is a sophisticated granular synthesizer. This VST Instrument allows you to create complex sounds that can drastically evolve over time. It features two completely independent layers that each use a set of preconfigured samples as grain oscillator sources. This way, you can combine slowly moving pads with rhythmic parts, for example, to create interesting pad sounds. The Filter section provides 12 different filter types, including low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters. The integrated filter distortion can produce analog tube distortions or hard clipping effects, or reduce the bit depth or sample frequency. Two envelopes, two LFOs, and the step modulator in Padshop can be used to modulate a large number of modulation destinations, which are accessible in the modulation matrix. The matrix features 10 freely assignable modulation rows. This allows you to create Note Expression modulation assignments that can be directly addressed from within Cubase, for example. To give the sounds the final polish, Padshop provides a two-stage effect section including chorus, flanger, and different delay effects.
  Prologue
Prologue is modelled on subtractive synthesis, the method used in classic analog synthesizers.
  Retrologue II
The VST instrument Retrologue provides you with a highly flexible virtual analog synthesizer. It features all essential classical synthesis features that you need to create your synthesizer sounds. It comes with two multi-mode oscillators, a dedicated sub oscillator and a noise generator. The oscillators feature several modes that allow anything from basic synthesis waveforms, to sync and cross modulation, to multi waveforms. One oscillator can be a combination of up to eight detunable oscillator signals, which allows for very rich sounds. The Filter section provides 12 different filter types, including lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and band rejection filters. The integrated filter distortion can either produce analog tube distortions or hard clipping effects. In addition, you can add the ring modulated signal from oscillator 1 and 2. The two envelopes and two LFOs in Retrologue can be used to modulate a large number of modulation destinations which are accessible in the modulation matrix. The matrix features 10 freely assignable modulations. This allows you, for example, to create Note Expression modulation assignments that can be directly addressed from within Cubase. To give the sounds the final polish, Retrologue provides a two-stage effect section including chorus, flanger, and different delay effects.
  Spector
The synthesis in this synthesizer is based around a spectrum filter, which allows you to specify the frequency response by drawing a filter contour in the spectrum display.

  Latest sounds:
  Yamaha C7 Grand Piano.
  Steinway D Grand Piano.
Bossendorfer Imperial 97 key expressive piano.
  Halion symphonic orchestra.

Studio Interface

Steinberg UR44 for In-studio and when needed for mobile projects.
  Steinberg UR22 for mobile projects.

Resolution up to 192k 64 bit floating point recording. However, because Cubase plug-ins use 32 bit processing, 32 bit recording is recommended for projects using processing at the input.

Note:  Although Cubase has the capability of recording sampling rates up to 192K, most trained ears cannot hear a difference after 48k.  Because of this, we record all projects at 48k 32 bit unless otherwise requested by client..
